July Beer of the Month: Allagash "Dubbel Belgian Ale"
I know, I know, this isn't a fruity Summer brew, sue me. Thing is, when you encounter Belgian style ale done right, you have to pimp it around every corner like a dude named Silky, ya' dig? Allagash, a Portland, Maine based brewer, has been winning awards for it's stellar craft brew for years now, and it's staple "Dubbel" is no exception.
Allagash Dubbel is deep reddish brown in color and is heavy (but not too heavy) on the malt. A dry finish, nutty, yet surprisingly drinkable, yeasty and fruity. Pair this with grilled hangar steak or marinated pork tenderloin.
Allagash Beer is widely available on the East Coast, as well as Illinois, Texas and California.
