Quick Hits – Anticipate Rob Gronkowski  to contribute more in pass protection this week against a Steelers’ team that loves to bring the heat.  This should free up Hernandez to see double digit targets.  Gronkowski is more of a low-end TE1 whose value will be determined by Brady finding him in the endzone … Antonio Gates caught a touchdown in his first week back.  He’s still dinged up, but he’ll be Rivers’ favorite redzone target going forward … John Beck meshed well with Fred Davis in his first start for the Redskins.  Santana Moss’ hand injury combined with Chris Cooley being place on injured reserve will be a nice boost for Davis’ value going forward.  He could flirt with top 5 tight end status before the season is over … Brandon Pettigrew had his worst game since week 2 as the Lions’ offense struggled to get anything going against the Falcons.  If Stafford is out, having Hill in there would actually be a nice boost to Pettigrew’s value as past history has shown that he is a favorite target of Hill.  Either way, expect him to be much more productive this week against the Broncos … Owen Daniels gets a favorable matchup against Jacksonville, who is giving up the 4th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends … Vernon Davis had a solid stretch of games from from weeks 3-5 before a 2.8 point clunker heading into the bye week.  Cleveland has done well against the pass, and Davis is the only pass catcher in San Francisco that should be in your lineup … Jake Ballard has quietly become a sneaky play, and against a Miami team that is allowing 16.4 points per game to tight ends, he’s shaping up like a TE1 in this one … With Greg Olsen’s turf toe injury, he saw only 3 targets in week 7, of which he caught one.  I’d be hesitant to play him this week and hope that his toe gets better after the week 9 bye.  That said, Jeremy Shockey has been plenty involved in the Carolina offense and can function as a low-end TE1 this week … With Ben Watson likely out, Evan Moore is set to see a lot of snaps for Cleveland.  The talented pass catcher is a solid bye-week fill in for Finley, Keller, Gonzalez, and Winslow owners.
